Creative designers and smart programmers are not two different species…

Have you ever heard of a creative programmer? Or have you ever seen a graphic designer with programming skills? I’m not simply offering you the one or the other – I can give you the whole package!

My name is Micke Hasselqvist and I’m a web designer/programmer based in Stockholm, Sweden. I build clean, appealing, and functional interfaces which comply with the latest web standards. Not only that, but I also build them using various types of both front-end and back-end technologies!

I design in Photoshop and I code sites in Dreamweaver, Visual Studio or Coda with XHTML and CSS, using a little of JavaScript and jQuery, and a lot of Usability, Accessibility, and Web Standards.

Over the years, I’ve also expanded on my knowledge, mainly by working with a few different CMS systems. One of them is WordPress that I use on this very site. I’ve gotten down and dirty with ASP, PHP and .NET and I’ve also worked with SQL, MySQL and Access databases.

I feel that it is very important to always be on the look-out for the latest technology and to never be afraid to experiment, and that’s the philosophy that I try to adapt. Since the market is constantly changing and growing, we developers needs to always sharp our teeth and learn as we go!

I am also a musician, currently playing guitar in a band that I co-foundend and is the main songwriter for called Arcane Reality. You can find us at http://www.arcanereality.net. I did, of course, design that site as well.
